ART JAM IRELAND was set up in 2007 by artist Deirdre Geraghty with the aim of making art activities for adults mainstream, of making art fun for everyone and not just the preserve of artists!
Deirdre /Art Jam Ireland created the concept of a once off painting session with your friends while having a few drinks. The very first 'Paint & Sip' in Ireland took place in the Piedescalso Art Cafe on Thomas Street, Dublin in 2008 and it was advertised in the Irish Times Magazine. We believe that what made a once off painting session with friends and having a few drinks such an acceptable activity was all the painting and enjoyment that went on with thousands and thousands of women organising (another creation of Art Jam) PAINT A NUDE hen parties. After years of making art easy in a fun environment, slowly but surely going out to paint and have a few drinks has become a mainstream activity.
Everyone now realises the benefits of spending time doing something creative and it is something that should be part of our lives without worry or hesitation. For too long children in schools were told they were no good at art. It doesn't matter! what matters is we need the headspace that creative activity offers, we need the lowering of cortisol and the increased dopamine that doing something creative gives us, and we need the fun, the playtime and the connection of being creative in groups.
So whether its PAINT & SIP, PAINT & DINE, SCULPT & SIP, PAINT A NUDE, SCULPT A NUDE, COFFEE & CLAY - all phrases/ terms coined by us or whether it's anybody else using Paint & Prosecco, Drink & Draw, Paint by Pints, Paint night or whatever anyone wants to call their session, it doesn't matter, what matters is that it is now a mainstream activity and spending time doing something fun and creative has become an acceptable part of adult social activity.
Now after the last few years, we need connection more than ever. We are more open to exploring our creative selves than ever before.

Having creative fun is not just for children and here at Art Jam we believe it is important that adults take time to be creative for themselves and sometimes that is easier when someone just makes it easy and hands all the creative materials to you and tells you what to do!
Having inspired adults in Ireland to get creative by offering once off art workshops since 2007, making art fun and mainstream for "non -arty" adults, we know what we are doing and are very good at this!
